Good to Know Before You Go
The ferry to Vivekananda Rock Memorial runs roughly 8:00 AM–4:00 PM, and this is genuinely the only place in India where you can watch both sunrise and sunset from the same beach. Best season is October to March for calmer seas and clearer views — the ferry can get suspended in rough monsoon weather (June–September). If you want the sunrise, plan to be at the jetty by 6:00–6:30 AM since the queue is shortest right after sunup and gets much longer by mid-morning. New Year's Day (January 1st) draws festival-level sunrise crowds - among the heaviest of the year at this beach - so if you're not specifically going for that atmosphere, any other date gives a far calmer visit.
